A Brief Professional History:
The 1960's
Fashion illustrator for Haggerty's Department Store
and Catalina Inc. Gallery exhibits in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago,
and Atlanta. Art
instructor for the Carden Academy and Encino Art Center. While raising
her family Seaberry taught privately in her studio. She began work
as a fabric painter and designer.
The 1970's
Recognized as a leader in the Functional Art Movement
in Los Angeles. Seaberry's
work was widely published and celebrated in the Interior Design field as
well as in the Fine Arts. Her signature style of painting was to
be found on a wide variety of surfaces for use in interior decoration and
corporate art. This expanded her artistic experience in application
of medium, concept, and technique. Representation grew quickly to include
more galleries and design showrooms in the United States and Canada.
The 1980's
With Seaberry's exposure to a wide variety
of work, opportunities for artistic expansion arose in many fields. Her
involvement in fabric design led to years of collaboration with Laiza Adzer
Company. Hand
painted murals, screens and furnishings led to work in films as a set decorator. Commissions
for murals, paintings, and sculptures grew from the representation of the
highly respected Taylor/Gratzer Gallery in Los Angeles. Several trips
to Italy with Nancy Taylor were the basis for the formation of the Seaberry/Taylor
line of ceramics.
The 1990's and beyond
With decades of experience in a broad range
of work, and active involvement with the Santa Barbara Art Community, Seaberry
is now focusing on her relationship with nature and persons that have inspired
her and bring significance to her art. The love of story
telling through the portrayal of her subjects and the playful use of metaphor
brings an honesty to her work that easily engages the viewer. A devotion
to the discipline of a classical approach combined with spontaneity, keen
observation, a lively palette, and confident draftsmanship contribute to
the essential elements of her paintings and drawings.
